3 Official System Prompts That Stop Claude Code From Hallucinating APIs
If you've ever had Claude Code confidently generate code using a library function that doesn't exist, you've experienced the hallucination problem. The model fills knowledge gaps with plausible fiction—especially dangerous when working with unfamiliar APIs or documentation.
Anthropic's own documentation contains three specific system prompt instructions that fundamentally change this behavior. These aren't hidden features—they're published guidance that most developers building with Claude Code haven't discovered.
The Three Hallucination-Reducing Instructions
1. "Allow Claude to say I don't know"
